Eva May Shively

It has pleased Almighty God in His infinite wisdom to call Eva May Shively, age 98 of Holland, Ohio to her heavenly home on Monday, August 15, 2011 at Astor House. Eva was born February 28, 1913 in Flat Rock, Ohio, the daughter of Wallace W. and Katherine May nee Hendricks Baker. Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 73 years, Weldon C. Shively, whom she married on August 20, 1937 in St. John Lutheran Church, Fremont, Ohio; two sons: Gary and his wife Yvonne of Marshall, Illinois; Duane and his wife Diana of Maumee; and one daughter, Joy Hodak of Maumee; six grandchildren: Mark, Karl and Daniel Shively, Darci Aselage, Nick Hodak and Nicole Hallet; three step-grandchildren: Brent and Brenna Bowser and Brianna Robert Hunter; thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Walter. Eva spent many fun-filled hours sewing, crocheting and crafting dolls, dogs, clowns, baby blankets, afghans, sweaters, mittens, towels, placemats, Christmas ornaments and the like for family, friends and the Ft. Myers Hobby Club bazaars. She was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, Toledo. She graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1931 and attended Robinwood Hospital School of Nursing in Toledo. She worked at Green Springs Tuberculin Sanitarium in Green Springs, Ohio; S. S. Kresge in Fremont; and, from 1955 until her retirement in 1975, at J. C. Penney Co. in Columbus, Ohio. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 17, 2011 from 4-8 pm at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home at 501 Conant Street in Maumee, Ohio. Viewing will continue Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 10:00am followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 am at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 915 N. Reynolds Rd, Toledo, OH 43615. Burial will be at Four Mile House Cemetery, Fremont, Ohio.
