Eugene Whitson

Eugene Whitson, 83, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away Friday, February 20, 2009 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center, Port Clinton, OH. Eugene was born on July 30, 1925 in Gypsum, OH to Lon and Nellie Long Whitson. Eugene was a loyal employee for U.S. Gypsum for 36 years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Eugene enjoyed boating and water skiing, gardening, reading and bowling. He was a good family man to the ones he loved. Survivors include: Wife: Margaret Whitson of Port Clinton; Daughters: Cynthia Hugh Shamhart of Norwalk, OH, Brenda Gene Keckler of Port Clinton, OH; Grandchildren: Michelle, Russell, Fred, Rachel; Step-Grandchildren: Brandt, Brittiany, Elizabeth, Brian, Jeff. Eugene is also survived by many loving great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his: Parents, Brothers: Lon Jr., Kenneth, Wallace, William; Step-Mother: Mabel Whitson. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Tuesday, February 24 , 2009 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend James Lehman at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 25, 2009 in the funeral home. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH.
