Eugene P. Weisend, 89, of Port Clinton, OH died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at his residence. He was born on November 11, 1918 in Waterford, OH to William and Carol Lauer Weisend. He graduated from Waterford High School in 1936. On November 25, 1937 in Marietta, OH he married Mary Waterman and she survives. Eugene worked as a terminal manager for Motor Express in Sandusky, OH for many years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of LaPointe United Methodist Church, Port Clinton Elks Lodge # 1718, and Port Clinton Oliver H. Perry Masonic Lodge # 341 F. A.M. Eugene enjoyed woodworking, especially on bird houses, reading, and golfing. He also spent 24 years in Mesa, Arizona for the winters, put out a garden every year and gave a lot of his time to the church as a grounds keeper. In addition to his loving wife of 70 years: Mary; survivors include: sons: Robert Kay Weisend of Michigan, James Dorothy Weisend of Arizona, and Patrick Debbie Weisend of Tennessee; daughter: Sandra Drickhamer of Avon, OH; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sisters: Winifred Harra and Juanita Meyers; and brother: Billy Weisend. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Leonard, Paul, and Les Vernon
