Eugene Lorensen, 79, passed away after a lengthy illness on Friday, June 21, 2019, with his family beside him at Tidewell Hospice House in Englewood, Florida. He was born on December 16, 1939 in Port Clinton, Ohio, the son of Bernard and Luella (Warnke) Lorensen. He married Rissa Low and she survives. Gene was a graduate of Port Clinton High School and then served in the National Guard until he was honorably discharged. Throughout his working career, he worked for Port Clinton Manufacturing, Uniroyal, and Celotex, from where he retired. He and his wife, Rissa then moved to Venice, Florida to enjoy life and its surroundings. He enjoyed sports which led him to pursuing his life-long hobbies of watching or going to Cleveland Indians games. He was also an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. Survivors include his loving wife, Rissa of 47 years; sons, James Muirhead, John (Karen) Muirhead, and Thomas (Patricia) Muirhead; twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and his sister, Linda (Carl) Hopfinger. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Carrie Brisner, granddaughter, Jennifer Muirhead, and brother, Larry Lorensen. Gene will be sadly missed, but he loved his family dearly. Visitation will be 3-6pm, Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Deron Fourman, 9:30am, Monday, July 1, 2019 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
