Eugene "Gene" J. Williams

Eugene “Gene” J. Williams, 77, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023, at the Genoa Retirement Village. He was born in Port Clinton, Ohio on February 8, 1945, the son of James A. and Eva F. (Cutcher) Williams. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1963 and served abord the USS Northampton. He was discharged in 1968. Gene married Mary Ellen (Mills) on June 12, 1991, in Fremont, Ohio and she survives.

Gene was a truck driver for many years, hauling freight for various companies. Fishing was a favorite pastime of his and he could be found on Lake Erie or the shoreline pulling in his favorite Walleye or Perch. Other activities of his included bowling, Euchre, and working on cars in his garage. He was an avid Michigan and Browns fan and always loved being around his grandchildren.

Gene is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary, children, Jimmy (Heather) Williams, Jessica (James) Watkins, Elizabeth (Brian) Wilson, step-children, Andrew (Kristal) Hebert, Nicole (Tim) Linder, and Adam (Amber) Hasselbach, 17 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Williams.
