Eugene H. Gene Donahue

Gene Donahue, 93, of Huron, OH, passed away, Friday, May 26, 2017 at Admiral’s Pointe Nursing Home, Huron, OH. Gene was born on February 17, 1924 in Duluth, MN, the son of Paul and Bessie (Stevens) Donahue. On December 17, 1973, in Port Clinton, he married Margaret “Marge” A. Acker and she survives. Gene was a boat salesman for over 50 years, and very active in Mid-America Boating activities in the Port Clinton and Sandusky, Ohio areas. He truly loved his job and for most of his years he worked 7 days a week. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Huron and the Elks Lodge in Port Clinton. Gene was also a WW II veteran. He loved his family and his Lab dogs who were his constant companions. Those left to cherish his memory are: Loving Wife: Marge, children, Barbara (Dennis) Jessee, Douglas (Diane) Donahue and Jack Donahue, grandchildren, Graham (Cindy) Donahue, Tiffany (Derrin) Smidt, Cally Donahue and Morgan Donahue and great grandchildren, Delaney and Finn Donahue. He was preceded in death by his parents, half-brother, Perry Donahue and son, Barry Donahue. According to the family wishes there will be no services. Those wishing to remember Gene may direct a memorial contribution to the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior St. Sandusky, Ohio 44870. The Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, OH 43452, is assisting the family with arrangements.
