Ethel E. Purney, 92, of Curtice, died early Thursday morning, March 3, 2011, in her residence. Ethel was born May 20, 1918, in Clay Center, Ohio, to Floyd and Elizabeth Floro Benadum. In 1938 she married Galen Purney, who preceded her in death December 13, 1987. She was a homemaker and worked for the dietary department at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon for several years. She enjoyed crocheting but especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ethel is survived by her son, Ronald Carol Purney of Avon Lake, Ohio, and daughter, Gale Joseph Pocs of Curtice, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Theodore Benadum and Clayton Benadum and sisters, Thelma Stroh and Bernadine Winnie. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, in Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Genoa, with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Allen Township Cemetery, Williston. The family has requested memorials for Ethel to Diabetes Association.
