Ethel Merrill Dutridge

Merrill Dutridge, age 107 of Toledo passed away Saturday October 17, 2015 at the Genoa Retirement Village, Genoa Ohio. She was born November 28, 1907 in Midland, Arkansas to John H. and Emma R. (Williams) Quinley in a house that her father had built on the farmland that was family owned for over 100 years. A 1936 graduate of Arkansas State Teachers College she taught home economics, was a governess and a dietician. During World War II she worked as a supervisor over Greyhound Post Houses in Ohio and Pennsylvania. On March 8, 1944 she married Lloyd Dutridge in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Toledo to live in the house her husband had built. During her married life she worked in the Libbey High School cafeteria and babysat. In 1963 she went to work for the Lucas County Welfare Department retiring in 1981. The widow of Lloyd Dutridge she was also preceded in death by her younger brother Roger Bud Quinley. Surviving is her daughter Arlene of Pittsboro, IN; grandchildren Suzanne of Woodbridge, VA, Melissa of Broad Ripple, IN and Brett of Speedway, IN; and great-grandchildren Quentin, Cody, Kaitlyn and Declan. Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey) on Wednesday after 12 Noon where funeral services will follow at 1:30 PM. Interment Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
