Esther L. Volk

Esther L. Volk, age 86, passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010. The daughter of Frank and Anna Nalepka, she was born Sept. 4, 1923 in Toledo. She was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School. She married the love of her life Donald on Jan. 14, 1945. Esther was a member of Sylvania First United Methodist Church for over 50 years, serving on the Altar Guild and volunteering with flower arranging. She loved being a part of her childrens activities, volunteering with the Brownies, girl scouts, helping with sales at the football games and working on the Bazaar sales. She also gave of her time assisting as an election official. Esther traveled extensively, visiting Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Germany, Alaska, Michigan, Mexico, Lichtenstein, Austria, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, New York, and Florida. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Donald; son, Roger Margaret Ann Volk; daughter, Nancy Wilfong; 4 grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 3:00-7:00 PM at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. Funeral services will be held Friday at Sylvania First United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
