Esteban Dehoyos, Sr.

Esteban Steve DeHoyos, Sr., 79, of Genoa, Ohio, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 in Mercy-St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio. Esteban was born in Robstown, TX on December 18, 1933 to Manuel and Petra Lopez DeHoyos. He married Maria Navarro in Corpus Christi, TX on May 10, 1953. She preceded him in death on June 26, 2000. Esteban was an electrician supervisor for U.S. Gypsum of Genoa, for over 40 years, retiring in 1997. He served his country in the National Guard Reserves, and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa. In his younger years he and his wife were very involved with their Catholic community. He and his wife had also owned and operated the former DeHoyos Bakery in Genoa. Esteban was an exceptional man who loved and cherished his wife and family. He believed in higher education and made sure that all of his children went to college. Nothing made him more proud than to see his children and grandchildren succeed in life. Esteban is survived by his children, Diane N. DeHoyos of El Paso, TX, Rose Mary Gonzalez of Genoa, Esteban Diane DeHoyos, Jr., of Perrysburg, OH, grandchildren, Andrew, Gabriel, Roxangela, Kassandra, Dito, Ryanico, Brianna, 4 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Robert DeHoyos of Willard, OH, Manuel Ok-Sun DeHoyos, Las Vegas, NV, and Juanita Silva, Norman, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Petra Reyna, brother Raul DeHoyos, and sister, Dolores Alonzo. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Saturday, December 29, 2012 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 204 S. Main St. Genoa, OH 43430. Visitation will be in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St. Genoa, OH, from 2-8 PM on Friday, December 28, 2012. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM Friday evening in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa.
