Ersel W. Heath

Ersel Washington Heath, 94 has passed away at the Kingston Residence in Sylvania, Ohio on Jan 4 2016 . His health only began to fade in his final year. Ersel was born on February 22, 1921 in Rigby, Idaho. The third child of five born to Grover Davies and Christie (Egan) Heath. He grew up on farms in the Idaho Falls area and graduated from Ammon High School before enlisting in the U. S. Navy. He met and married Alyce Joan Bates while in the Navy. After the war he settled in Toledo Ohio and worked for L.O.F. at the East Broadway plant for 37 years. Shortly after his wife died in 1983 he returned to his native Idaho where he got reacquainted with a former high school classmate who had been widowed. Veda Bell Bendixen and Ersel were married in 1985 and spent many years living in the Idaho Falls area and RV’ing in the winters . After Veda died in 2013, he returned to Toledo where he could be assisted by Joan Kenny during his remaining time. He was a kind man and appreciative of the help he received. Ersel was a member of the Masons and worked with the Boy Scouts when he was younger. Late in life he renewed his relationship with the LDS church. Ersel is survived by his children, James (Jean) Heath of Chandler, AZ; Joan (John) Fisher of Sylvania, OH; Kenneth (Johnnie) Heath of Sylvania, OH; Barbara (Mike) Latschar of Farmington, NM; Sister, Betty McCrary of Salt Lake City, UT; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Wendel, Goldie and Emery. Family and friends may visit at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, OH on Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 9:30 AM until the time of services at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd. Perrysburg, OH 43551.
