Ernestina Silva

January 2, 1933 — August 28, 2024

Ernestina Silva, age 91, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on August 28, 2024, in Toledo, Ohio. Tina was born January 2, 1933, in Asherton, Texas to the late Cruz and Edwarda (Chappa) Enriquez. She married Santos Amado Silva on March 7, 1948, and they shared 76-years of marriage and together raised a wonderful family of nine children.

A homemaker who was totally devoted to caring for her family, Tina was also an excellent cook. She was known for her gracious hospitality, always offering her guests something to drink and her amazing homemade refried beans, rice, and tortillas. She possessed an uncanny ability to know the schedules and birthdays of her children and grandchildren by memory, always staying close to what they were doing. A devout Catholic and prayer warrior, Tina loved Jesus Christ and offered her devotions daily. She and Santos were longtime members of the former Good Shepherd Catholic Church (now Epiphany of Our Lord Parish) where she assisted with many parish festivals and participated in Cursillo. Tina’s selfless and giving nature was nothing less than Christ-like.

In her free time, Tina was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved to go shopping. Some in her family might even suggest she was a little “bougie”, especially with her purses. Tina, like her beloved husband, brought joy and smiles to those who had the pleasure of knowing them. Their presence and goodness will be deeply missed.

Tina is survived by her loving children, Juan (Mary) Silva, Mary Silva, Ellie Davis, Rose (Gene) Yedica, Margarita Robison, Carol (Dale) Thompson, and Diana Silva, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Santos on February 29, 2024; children, Maria Belia Urias-Hibbs and Santos A. Silva Jr.; daughter-in-law, Sylvia Silva; sons-in-law, Jeff Hibbs and Scott Davis; grandchildren, Juan Silva Jr., Lisa Urias-Wharton, Victoria Hibbs, and Jacob Robison.
