Ernest Arthur Garee

Ernest Arthur Garee, age 78, of Toledo, died May 1, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born February 13, 1939 in Marion, Ohio to the late Waldo and Ada Faye (Montague) Garee. A graduate of Marion Harding High School where he was on the swim and track and field teams, Ernie served in the United States Navy from 1958-62. He was extremely hard-working and worked in maintenance with Hunt Wesson Foods for 18 years, retiring in 1997. In his free time, Ernie enjoyed camping and tinkering in his garage, remodeling homes, racing mini-stocks and was an avid fan of NASCAR. He loved attending the Daytona 500 and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be affectionately remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. Surviving is his wife of nearly 50 years, Sandra Lee (Hoffman) Garee; children, Jim, Bill, Chris, Dawn Luce (Bill), Daren Garee (Stephanie) and Sara Pescara (Art); twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two brothers. Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.). Graveside services and military honors will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe Street (please meet at the front gates). Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
