Erma Strayer

Erma Strayer, age 91, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2013. She was born to Charles and Carrie Wolf Brinkman on July 20, 1921 in Defiance, Ohio. She was very active as a member of Maumee United Methodist Church , serving as past president of the womens society, and a financial secretary for the church. Erma enjoyed her Compass Club lunch group. She and Vern were involved with Meals on Wheels and enjoyed gardening and puzzles together. Erma especially enjoyed creating over 650 prayer quilts. She had great pride in her grandchildren whom were very important to her. Erma is survived by her children, Janet Jack Denton, Robert Janet Strayer and John Bonnie Strayer; sister, Mary Lauer; grandchildren, JoAnne, Chris, John, Mike, Greg, Mark, Steve and Susan, great-grandchildren, Trent, Tyler, Ashley, Will, Nathan, Levi and Riley. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon Strayer; sister, Leona Buckhout and brother, Melvin. Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, July 6, 2013 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St. Maumee, Ohio. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at 1:30 PM at the Maumee United Methodist Church, 405 Sackett Streeet, Maumee, Ohio.
