Erma Jones

Erma Agatha Powell Jones, age 85 of Allen, MI passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013 in her home. Erma was born in Toledo, OH on April 17, 1928 to John and Marie Mondt Powell. Erma was a self-employed hairdresser in New York for many years, was involved in community theater in California and New Mexico, and owned a bed-andbreakfast in Michigan. After retirement, she worked at Wal-Mart for 10 years. She was a foster mother to two teens who needed homes. Erma also loved animals and took care of many dogs and cats over the years. Erma loved fashion, theater, art, antiques, and traveling; she was very outgoing and loved life. She was an adventurous woman who tried many things from going to the bottom of The Grand Canyon on a mule to hot air ballooning. She is survived by her brother, Jim Jeanne Powell and sisters, Sharon Graves and Carolyn Switzer and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Allan Jones, first husband, Lenny Friedman, sister Yvonne Powell, and brothers, Norman Jack and Eugene Powell. Family and friends may call at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St., Maumee on Saturday May 11, 2013 from 1:00 pm until the time of services at 2:00 PM.
