Erika A. Mihlbauer, 48, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023, after becoming ill 2 weeks ago. Erika was born in Oregon, Ohio to the late Roland and Kay (Dufendock) Elwing, on November 19, 1974. A lifelong Genoa resident, she attended and graduated from Genoa High School, class of 1992.
Erika met the love of her life, James D. Mihlbauer, and were married in the Genoa United Methodist Church on October 10, 2003. She was employed at the Genoa Mini Mart and had worked for the Target store in Rossford. Erika was a devoted wife and mother who loved being active with her family. She took pride in helping with her daughter’s Girl Scout Troop, as a soccer coach, and an avid fan of her high school volleyball team. Erika looked forward to many family trips made to the Amish country, Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Walt Disney World, and the beaches of the Carolina coast. She loved watching Hallmark Channel movies and rescuing four legged furry friends that needed lots of love.
Erika is survived by her husband, James; daughter, Olivia; brother, Dirk Elwing; her uncle, Jan (Melody) Dufendock; her dog, Uma, cat, Callie; and guinea pig, Apple Pie. Her parents, Roland and Kay Elwing; uncle, Jerry Everhardt; and in-laws Florence and Jackie Mihlbauer preceded her in death.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 13, 2023, at Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial contributions for Erika, may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Way, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Humane Society of the donor’s choice.
