Eric James Pidcock

Eric (Rick) James Pidcock, age 65, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away on August 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Rick was born on October 14, 1960, in Toledo, Ohio. A proud lifelong member of the Sylvania community, he attended Stranahan Elementary School, Arbor Hills Junior High School, and graduated with the Southview High School Class of 1978, only the second graduating class in the school's history. Sylvania Schools became a family tradition when both of his children attended schools in the district and graduated from Southview, and it is one that will proudly carry on through his grandchildren.

Following high school, Rick earned his bachelor's degree from The University of Toledo before continuing his education to receive a Master of Business Administration in International Finance. He built a successful career through hard work and dedication, beginning with Floralandscape and concluding his professional journey with Cleaner and Dryer.

Rick was a passionate sports enthusiast whose loyalty to his favorite teams never wavered. He faithfully cheered on the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Pittsburgh Steelers. Local football, however, held a special place in his heart. As a child he was coached by his father, Ronald Pidcock and as a young man he proudly played for the Southview Cougars before continuing his football career at the University of Southern Colorado with his best friend, Mike Sayed. Yet no team ever brought him greater pride than Southview in 2008 when his son, Alex, led the Cougars as quarterback to the Ohio State Championship. Rick could always be counted on to be the loudest voice in the stands, celebrating every victory and supporting his family with unshakeable enthusiasm.

Some of Rick's happiest childhood memories were made during family vacations in Baldwin, Michigan. During his college years, annual trips to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, created more unforgettable memories that he reminisced later in life.

Music was another of Rick's great passions, especially the unmistakable sound of AC/DC. One of his favorite stories from high school involved him and his friend, Stan Moyer, locking themselves in the school's audiovisual room so they could broadcast the entirety of AC/DC's newest album over the school's speaker system, a stunt that perfectly captured Rick's love of rock and roll.

He was a devoted father, a proud and loving grandfather, a caring son, a loyal brother, and a cherished nephew. His family was the center of his life, and he took immense pride in watching each generation grow. Rick was met in heaven by his parents, Ronald and Judith Pidcock; cousin, Kevin Carver; aunt, Judy and her husband Mike Kazmierczak; and two of his best friends, Mike Sayed and Rusty Vance. Eric's legacy lives on through his children, Ainsley (Brandon) Schwartz and Alex Pidcock; grandchildren, Finn and Ayla Schwartz; sister, Julie (Ron) Breeden; aunt, Mary Jane Ryan; nieces, Sydney (Craig) Hider and Ally (Austen) Pawlaczyk, and great niece, Georgia Pawlaczyk.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, August 30, 2026 from 1-5 pm at Olander Park.
