Born in Midland, MI to James and Marit (Knudsen) Reynolds, they moved to Port Clinton in 1975 where his lifelong love of all things lake began. He was a graduate of PCHS in 1988 continuing on at OSU Agricultural Technical Institute majoring in Horticulture and later Terra State Community College earning a degree in HVAC and many other technical certificates.
Eric worked extensively as a HVAC tech, applying acquired skills in plumbing, electrical and remodeling to elevate into general contracting. He was known by many as a “jack-of-all-trades” and hardly did a task present itself that he was unable to conquer, whether with his tools, or his mind. Eric was never more than a phone call away in times of crisis.
Eric was a bit of an enigma, keeping most at arm’s length, keeping his circle tight. Those privileged enough to penetrate his armor forged unbreakable bonds. While most saw chaos, his chosen circle saw strength, wisdom, kindness, humor and loyalty. Eric enjoyed spending his time relaxing on the lake and islands, cruising in his beloved Plymouth or out on his back porch, soaking in the sun and nature, dreaming of Norway, watching NASCAR races, or watching YouTube how to videos, all with headphones on and feet up. Eric also had a unique talent with turning everyday items into one of a kind art pieces, sculptures and home décor using an industrial steam punk theme.
Eric entered his final battle with courage and strength comparable only to Vikings and Norse Gods. Through it all he never hesitated in helping others fight their own battles, lending his knowledge and personal experiences or a listening ear and safe space to vent. He was a proud member of the Spinal Tumor Cancer Group where he not only made very deep friendships but found comfort in others who truly knew his struggle. He was honored to serve on the CCF Spinal Tumor Board and felt blessed to volunteer as a 4th angel with Cleveland Clinic Hospital.
Above all other, Eric most loved to spend time with his son Gunner and his grandchildren Kaia and Koda, who affectionately referred to him as “Grandpa BooBoo”. Nothing could drop his shield and melt his armor faster than just the mention of their names. He was always quick to show pictures while beaming with pride.
Preceded in death by his father James E. Reynolds, Eric leaves behind his mother Marit (Knudsen) Reynolds, two brothers Bree and Bob Reynolds, son Gunner J. Reynolds, beloved grandchildren Kenaia Nova and Dakoda Eric Reynolds and longtime friend and mother to Gunner - Marsie Mclaury.
Per Eric’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or services at this time.
Eric loved the outdoors and would often sit outside for hours soaking up all the serenity and beauty that nature had to offer. Over the last year this occurred in the Courtyard at Edgewood Manor and we know nothing would make him happier than to brighten and beautify “his Shangri-la” so others can also escape, as he did, the chains that bind them…. Even if for only a moment. If you would like and are able to donate in his memory, please make checks out to:
