Emmett C. Kosier

November 13, 1945 — December 15, 2020

Emmett C. “Sonny” Kosier age 75 of Maumee, OH passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. Sonny was born in Toledo on November 13, 1945 to Frederick and Vera Louise (Clevenger) Kosier. Sonny attended Anthony Wayne High School and Owens College to become an electrician. He worked for Owens Illinois as an electrician for thirty-one years. He was a hard worker all his life. Sonny married Janice Thompson in 1963. Sonny was very proud of his family. His daughter, Amy is a registered nurse; Robert and William both served in the Air Force and his son-in-law Rich did the same. Sonny played a large part in his grandchildren’s life. After retirement he became the grand kids’ chauffer for many years. He loved to ride his bicycles and rode in many “Bike to the Bays”. Just this past spring, the kids surprised him with a new bike, and he rode it all summer, usually 10 miles, 3 to 5 days a week. He loved his ice cream, peanut M&M's and Whoppers. This last year has been rough but Sonny never complained. We took one day at a time and trusted in God. He was very happy to have all three kids and grandkids around him. Family was his life. His son-in-law, Rich built a mother and father-in-law suite twelve years ago. He felt very blessed to have a son-in-law do such a kindness. He loved him like a son. Bob and Bill were both living in Las Vegas for about 25 years. Sonny was so happy to have them finally home. His family was at his side when he passed. Sonny is survived by his wife, Janice Thompson; daughter, Amy Jo Kosier-Moore (Rich); sons, Robert Kosier (Claudine) and William Kosier; grandchildren, Christina Jo, Abigail Jo and Jonathan Richard Moore. He also had many brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Father Fred and mother Vera; sister, Betty Crosby; brothers, Alan Kosier and Lee Kosier; brothers-in-law, Terry Thompson and Terry Kuhl. Special thanks to Ashanti Hospice, special nurse, Lisa; social worker, Thais; Hospice Director, Rachel and most especially Amy. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
