Emma Clara Ruggiero, age 94, of Toledo, died December 24, 2020 at her home. She was born February 20, 1926 in Fayette, Ohio to the late Henry and Pearl (Benner) Alleman. Emma was a homemaker and was employed for 28 years at Toledo Start High School. Active in living her faith as a longtime member of St. Clement Parish and later Sylvania St. Joseph Parish, Emma volunteered many hours of her time in service to others. She devoted 14 years at Flower Hospital, spent 8 years on the Board at Anne Grady Association and also volunteered with the Little Sisters Guild at Lourdes University, at Christ Presbyterian Church, Franciscan Center, Upton Theatre, and was a member of the Compass Club for 10 years. Emma also bowled for many years in the Glass Bowl Lanes League. She also enjoyed tending to her flower garden, crocheting, playing Bunco and going to lunch with her many dear friends. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Daniel P. (Peggy) Ruggiero of Loveland, Ohio, Diane (Joe) Duganiero, of Canton, Ohio and Debbie Pilcher of Matlacha, Fla.; grandchildren, Daniel (Kelly) Ruggiero, Susan (Gene) Salyer, John (Katie) Ruggiero, Brent (Christie) Duganiero, Kelly (Corey) Taylor, Carrie (Ken) Johnson and James (Angelique) Pilcher; and twelve great grandchildren. Emma was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 48 years, Ernie Ruggiero; brothers, John, Wilbur, Dick and Ora Alleman; and son-in-law, Jim Pilcher. Private services and entombment will take place at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in Emma’s name are suggested to ProMedica Hospice. The family would like to extend a special thanks to dear friends, Rose Vietch, Bonnie Mitchell, Dee Cluckey and Joyce Spaneilli; as well as Heather Stutz of Alexis Gardens for their kindness and visits with Emma.
