Emil Harry Voigt passed away on March 18, 2013 while residing at Otterbein Monclova with his wife, Kathleen. He was born on May 21, 1933 to Harriet and Emil Voigt. Emil became the man of the house when he was a teen and his father passed away. He took care of his mother and brother, William Voigt in Toledo, Ohio. Emil went to Woodward High School and attended the University of Toledo. He was very proud to be a staff sergeant in the Air Force during the Korean War. When he came back to Toledo, Emil married his high school sweetheart on December 17, 1955. Together, they raised two daughters, Janelyn Mark and Heidi Daniel. His motto to his girls was always, Do what you think is best. Emil had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to enjoy life. Kathleen and Emil spent summer days with the family up at their cottage at Round Lake. Their grandchildren Tyler and Emilyn Janelyn and Hope and Hannah Heidi have many fond memories of grandpas jokes and water fights. His grandchildren Hannah, Owen, Cullen, and Nola Heidi and Dan best remember grandpa for his loving heart. During his adult life, Emil worked for several companies in sales. When he retired, he helped with the financial management at Gateway Pre-K School. Emil was involved in many organizations including the Shrine and Masons. Visitation for Emil will be at Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave west of Corey Rd on Wednesday, March 20thfrom 5-7 PM where services will be held on Thursday, March 21stat 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be shared with the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com.
