On July 17, 2021, at 6:30 am, Emery Lee Ison went to the Glory of God. His accomplishments were many. Emery was born in Whitesburg, Kentucky, August 14, 1934, to Coy and Mabel (McIntosh) Ison. Upon graduation, Emery entered the US Navy in April of 1951. He served on the U.S.S. O’Brien and was discharged in December of 1954. He was an Aqualified Underwater Demo Team Leader #9 Frogman. He earned several service medals including a Purple Heart when he was wounded in Korea, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, and China Service Medal- Navy Occupation. He traveled extensively during his service and throughout his life. Emery married his loving wife, Nettie May Asher, in 1955, and together they welcomed their only son, Brandon, in 1960. Emery worked at various companies throughout his career including Surface Combustion, Tillotson Carburetor, and Borg Warner, Inc. In 1987 Emery purchased a cosmetic company, Cameo, Inc. He was a member of the Sylvania Moose, Wounded Warriors, and he was a Mason. Left to cherish his memory is his loving companion and caregiver, Jackie Limes; son, Brandon (Paula) Ison; granddaughters, Jessica (Phil) Myers, Jennifer Ison, and Amanda Ison; great-grandson, Coy; uncle, Jack McIntosh; and many friends that enjoyed his friendship. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nettie, in 2014. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.), until the time of Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Entombment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in Emery’s name. Special thanks to the facility staff and nurses, especially Charlene and Rocky, for their loving care.
