Emerson F. Siefke

Emerson F. Siefke, 83 of Martin, Ohio, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011, in the Edward & Marion Knight Hospice Center, Perrysburg, Ohio surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 17, 1927 in Jerusalem Township, Ohio to Frederick and Florence Arndt Siefke. He married Joan C. Johns in Blackberry, Ohio on August 8, 1947 and she preceded him in death on March 10, 1995. Emerson was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Navy as a coxswain aboard the USS Rotain AK-108. Emerson worked for City Auto Stamping Co., Wolson Spice Co., American Ship Building Co., Toledo Ship Repair Co., and was a lifetime farmer. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Blackberry, Ohio, where he had served as a deacon and trustee. Emerson was a member of Ohio Farmers Union, Ottawa County Farm Bureau, a retired member of the Boilermakers Local 85, and a life-member of VFW Post #2510. In his spare time Emerson loved to hunt, fish, and play euchre. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his wife, Emerson was preceded in death by his parents and son Ronald L. Siefke. Emerson is survived by his children, Clyde E. Siefke, Danny R. Siefke, Luanne L. Schmidt all of Martin, Ohio, daughter-in-law, Linda K. Siefke of Oak Harbor, OH, brother, Robert L. Marilyn Siefke of Gibsonburg, OH, 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Emersons life will be conducted at 11 AM, Thursday, June 30, 2011 in St. Peter Lutheran Church, Blackberry Martin, OH. Interment will follow in the Elliston cemetery, Elliston, OH. Visitation will be in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home 501 West St. Genoa, OH from 2-8 PM, Wednesday, June 29, 2011. The family that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Emersons name be directed to St. Peter Lutheran Church, 17877 W. St. Rt. 579, Martin, OH 43445 or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551.
