Elvin Wilbur Carpenter

Elvin Wilbur Carpenter, 94, of Perrysburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 22, 2017. Elvin was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Lilly Carpenter; wife, of 59 years, Gwendolyn (Finch) Carpenter; brothers, Harley, Harry, Merle, Orel, Milton, and Floyd (who died in infancy); along with his sisters, Edna, Carrie, and Ila Carpenter. Elvin spent his life-time on the farm where he was raised. His passion for farming was an inspiration to all who knew him. He took great pride in his farming career by having meticulous fields and clean machinery that he repaired himself. Along with this passion, Elvin had the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors of Luckey Farmers Inc. Elvin was a man of strong faith and a longtime member of U.M. Church and Pilgrim Holiness churches in Perrysburg; both of which he helped to establish. He enjoyed wintering in Florida with his wife and crocheting afghans in his leisure time. During the latter part of his life, he was blessed to have the company of two generations of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 beginning at 12 Noon at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133), where a Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery in Perrysburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Elvin’s name may be made to Ohio Living Hospice or to WLMB TV.
