Elva Mary Taube, age 95, formerly of Toledo, passed away February 14, 2017 at the home of her daughter in Toccoa, Ga. Elva was born March 15, 1921 in Toledo to the late Ernest and Mary (Tumey) Merzke. She married Charles R. Taube on October 23, 1948 and he preceded her in death on June 9, 1983. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Howard and James Merzke and Edna Borton. Elva worked at the Champion Spark Plug Company and was a homemaker. A longtime member of First Alliance Church, she was a loving mother, devoted Christian and woman of prayer. Elva was a great cook and her home was often filled with the aroma of fresh baked pies and bread. Later in life she made 7 trips to Africa and 2 to Argentina to experience and encourage the international ministries in which her loved ones were involved. Left to cherish Elvas memory are her children, Joyce (William) Slusser, Beth (James) Albright and Daniel (Melody) Taube; twelve grandchildren; and twenty three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, February 18, 2017 at First Alliance Church, 2201 Monroe St., Toledo, where family and friends are invited to visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Columbus Alliance Church, 1218 California St., Columbus, IN 47201.
