Elton H. Rogers, age 87, passed away on July 27, 2013 in Winter Haven, Florida. He was born on December 20, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio to Russell and Rose Buettner Rogers. Elton served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was awarded two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart and a P.O.W. medal. Elton was a Firefighter and a retired Supervisor of Communications with REMSNO. He married the love of his life, Mary Zawodney on November 30th, 1960. Elton was a member of V.F.W., American Legion, Masonic Lodge #659 Robinson Locke, the Scottish Rite, the Zenobia Shrine, and Arab Patrol. He is survived by his wife, Mary Rogers; daughter, Ellen Mens; sons, Michael and Robert Rogers, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sons, Randall and David Rogers. Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave, west of Corey Rd with a Last Alarm and Masonic service at 7:00 PM. Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 8048 Broadstone Blvd., Perrysburg, Oh 43551. Condolences may shared with the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com.
