Elsie W. Pavuk

Elsie W. Pavuk died peacefully on February 24, 2023, just a few weeks shy of her 103 birthday. Born on March 30, 1920, to Edward and Louise Steinke, she and her siblings were raised by her stepmother Helen. She lived out her 102 years in the Rossford area. She graduated in 1937 from Waite High School and met her husband John Pavuk and they were married in 1940. Together they had three children, and she was a proud homemaker, running her household very efficiently.

She and her sisters Helen and Esther were very close and loved to entertain. Many hours were spent preparing meals, planning gatherings and enjoying family time. Their families would gather on weekends and holidays for favorite dishes like Chicken Paprikash and Stuffed Cabbage.

John and Elsie had great faith in God and were lifelong members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. They loved to dance to Polka music and enjoyed German festivals in Toledo, Hamler and Deshler.

Elsie was always up for a competitive game of Yahtzee with her husband, or Bunko with her friends. She had a feisty spirit that everyone adored.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, John (Betty), Janice (Robert) and Edward; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; sisters Helen, Esther; brother Edward Jr. and grandson Robert John.

The family will welcome visitors on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at the Sujkowski-Walker Funeral Home (830 Lime City Rd.) from 2 pm - 8 pm. That time of visitation will continue on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church (106 W. Plumer St.) from 10 am – 11 am with a service beginning at 11 am. Interment will follow at Union Hill Cemetery in Bowling Green.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of caregivers at Kingston. Their attentive care and kindness brightened Elsie’s days over these past years.
