Elroy "Butch" Helle

Elroy “Butch” Helle, 91, of Williston, Ohio, passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. He was born in Williston on November 6, 1931, one of eleven children to Arthur and Estella (Base) Helle. Butch married the former Cecylanne “Sue” (Overstreet) in Williston on March 14, 1970, and she preceded him in death on March 22, 2004.

Butch was a farmer all of his life and worked for ODOT in Oak Harbor, Ohio, for 34 years, retiring in 2000. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren along with working in his garden. Growing tomatoes was his specialty and when they were ripe, he canned them for himself and his family. He worked in his yard and had a knack for figuring out how to solve problems with items he had at hand, he was always tinkering with something! When others needed help, he was always there, willing to lend a hand, and get things done.

Butch is survived by his sons, Daniel (Dawn) Helle, Steven “Andy” Helle, grandchildren, Jason, Brian, Brandon, and Brody, great grandchild, Ruby, and his sister, Phyllis Haeft. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings, Gaylord, Donald, Gerald, Robert Helle, Betty McCluckey, Alice Nagy, Eileen, Deloris Fouke, and Marion Helle.

Visitation for Butch will be held from 2:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 AM, Wednesday, February 15, 2023, in the funeral home followed by interment in the Allen Township Cemetery, Williston, Ohio. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the A.C.J.F.D, Station #34, or the Allen Township Cemetery, both located at 21030 W. Toledo Street, Williston, Ohio 43468.
