Elmer Horner, Jr., age 92, of Walbridge, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 21, 2017 surrounded by his loving family and friends. Elmer was born on February 1, 1925 in Inez, KY to Elmer and Gladys (Lewis) Horner, Sr. Elmer was a WWII Navy veteran and married his beloved wife, Rosella I. (Buchanan) Horner on October 24, 1942 in Weeksbury, KY. He was a Signal Maintainer for CSX Railroad retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Masonic Paragon Lodge # 0788 F. & A.M., the Walbridge VFW Post #9963, and he was appointed an Honorable Colonel of the State of Kentucky which recognized his notable community work. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Wesley and Jack. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Rosella; children, Carolyn Jean (James) Gerber, Jimmy R. (Nancy Warns) Horner and Michael J. (Kathy Hamilton) Horner; grandchildren, Todd Gerber, Stacey, Jeremy, Jodi, Jayme, Mike Jr., Brian and Michelle Horner, thirteen great- grandchildren; and brother, Billy Joe (JoAnn) Horner. Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 11 AM. – 1:00 PM. at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main St. Walbridge, Ohio (419-666-3121) with funeral services beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Lake Township Cemetery, Millbury. Contributions in memory of Elmer may be made to the donor’s choice.
