Ellen B Nicolls

Ellen B. Nicolls, age 82 of Toledo died Saturday April 16, 2011 in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. She was born November 4, 1928 in Red Sulphur Springs, West Virginia to Henry and Emma Bell. She received her Bachelors Degree in education from the former Morris Harvey College in West Virginia and then her Masters of Education from Ohio State University. Ellen taught 30 years in the Toledo Public School System, teaching social studies at both Robinson Junior High School for 15 years and Macomber Whitney Vocational for 15 years, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed making jewelry, sewing and baking, but most of all she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving is her beloved husband of 59 years, Eugene Nicolls; son William Pattye Lou Nicolls of Toledo; daughter Pattye Ann Jeff Zappieri Nicolls of Hudson Falls, New York; grandchildren Jessica Ben Mack, Katie Eli Martin Nicolls and E.J. Nicolls; and 5 great-grandchildren. We would like to extend grateful appreciation to the Emergency Room staff at St. Annes and the Coronary Intensive Care Unit at St. Vincent Hospital, especially Dr. Stacey and nurses, Anita and Bonnie. Friends may visit at the Walker Funeral Home and Crematory 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey on Tuesday from 3-8 PM where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 AM. Entombment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials for cancer programs at Toledo Childrens Hospital.
