Ellen C. Limmer

On November 23rd Ellen Christina (Swartz) Limmer went to her eternal home to be with her Lord, her husband Howard, family and friends who’ve gone on before. She has received care for the past 14 years at Genesis Heath Care, of Perrysburg where she passed away. Ellen was the oldest of four children born to Elmer and Amy (Mandell) Swartz. Brothers Harold, Richard and sister Jessie Geldien are deceased. Ellen attended Glenwood Elementary School, graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1924 and then from Robinwood Hospital Nursing School in 1928. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stony Ridge and this past year was found to be the oldest living alumnus of Perrysburg High School. She married Howard Limmer in 1930 and they were farmers in Perrysburg Township and had a chicken and egg business for many years. They were married 60 years before Howard’s death in 1990. She loved life, her family, friends and neighbors. She loved the outdoors-the flowers and trees. She and Howard took numerous trips through Pennsylvania and southern Ohio. She played the piano, loved to sing and enjoyed listening to Lawrence Welk. Ellen is survived by her two sons, William (Ruth deceased in Oct. 2014) of Columbus, OH and Harry (Jackie) of Perrysburg; 6 grandchildren, William’s children, Dan (Barb) Limmer of Lebanon, OH, David (Crystal) Limmer of Columbus, OH, Paula Rossister of Lore City, OH; Harry’s children, Cheryl (Tim) DeVanna of Westerville, OH, Randy (Sue) Limmer of Highlands Ranch, CO and Wendy (Dave) McGee of Rossford, OH; 10 great grandchildren, Ryan, Kristen and Courtney DeVanna, Ben Limmer, Dalton and Addie Limmer, Matthew and Kyra Frontz, Mercedes and Makayla McGee; 6 great-great grandchildren, Nathan and Allison DeVanna, Kyan Kirby, Nora Fussell, Lana Frontz and Myla Phillips. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-9 P.M. in Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. S. Boundary in Perrysburg, OH (419-874-3133). Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 where the family will receive friends after 10 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 5520 Fremont Pike, Stony Ridge, OH 43463 with Pastor Daniel G Beaudoin, officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Meigs Cemetery, Perrysburg. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to either St. John’s Lutheran Church or Promedica Hospice.
