Ella Marie Laudenslager

Ella Marie Laudenslager, age 86, of Grayling, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2017 at The Goerlich Center in Sylvania, Ohio. Marie was born on January 13th, 1931 in St. Louis, MI to the late Donald and Velma (Parcher) McCallum. She married Del Laudenslager on September 9, 1950 and he also preceded her in death in May of 1983. They resided in Breckenridge, Michigan, until making Grayling their permanent home in 1974. Marie was a 1949 graduate of Breckenridge High School and was a loving and devoted wife and mother, choosing to serve her family as a homemaker. While raising her children she selflessly gave of her time to help with many school activities and sports. Besides being a wonderful cook and baker, passing her love of both to her children, Marie also loved to sew. She made many of her childrens clothes when they were growing up in addition to working for a dear friend as a seamstress during the 80s and 90s. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting for others, making endless supplies of doll clothes, accessories, and dish towels, just to name a few. She loved attending to her flowers every spring and summer and all of her neighbors will miss seeing her take her daily walks to the lake. Once her beloved husband passed and her children were grown she worked at the Grayling Holiday Inn Gift Shop for 10 years and then worked at KMart for another 15 years. It was here that most residents fondly remember her as the sweet and nice cashier when going through her line at KMart. For many years she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Grayling Chapter. Marie loved her family and friends very much and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Marie is survived by her son, Gregory Laudenslager; daughter, Kristine (Brady) Morse; grandchildren, Tyler (Erin) Laudenslager, Alexandria and Nicholas Morse; and great grandchildren, Ava, Kohen and Liam Laudenslager. A graveside memorial service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Grayling on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 1:00 pm. Their selfless acts of loving kindness in attending to her needs and safety by providing many services for her, including meals & companionship, is appreciated beyond words. Her family is very grateful to their entire staff and volunteers.
