Ella M. Giles

Ella M. Giles, 71, of Toledo, died on March 13, 2013 at Flower Hospital after a long illness. She was born on June 8, 1941 to Stafford and Alice Mayhall Stewart in Norwood, Louisiana. She accepted Christ at early age and became a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Ella graduated from Jackson High School in 1960 and moved to Elyria, Ohio shortly afterwards. She graduated from Beatrice Academy of Beauty in 1963 and became a licensed cosmetologist. She was also employed at National City Bank as a teller and was later promoted to assistant manager. She married Andrew J. Giles on May 29, 1976 and they lived in Elyria for 13 years until her husbands job transferred her family to Toledo in 1989. Ella was a pianist as a young lady and played for many of her communitys churches. She also loved crocheting, gardening, and was an avid reader. She is survived by her husband, Andrew; daughter, Lorita; sisters, Alice Utron Crook, Julia James Patton; brothers, Stafford Jo-ann Stewart, and Jack Stewart of Elyria. She also had an aunt, Lillie Mae Richards of uston, Texas and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Stafford Stewart in 1981 and mother, Alice Mayhall Stewart in 2007. She was also preceded by her first husband, William V. Springfield and her special aunt, Mary Ella Gray. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1611 Middle Ave. Elyria, OH from 11:00am-12:00pm with services beginning at noon. Pastor Monique Greenfield will officiate. Pastor Arnett Thornton will deliver the eulogy. Interment will be at Brookdale Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at walkerfuneralhomes.com.
