Ella Mae Burmeister, 94, of Oak Harbor, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 at her residence. She was born July 13, 1923 in Carroll Township to Fred and Elsie (Hoffman) Thorbahn. On November 24, 1943 in Oak Harbor she married Dale W. “Red” Burmeister, and he preceded her in death in 1974. Ella Mae worked as a homemaker and also at the Erie Army Proving Grounds for 2 years during World War II and for Riverview Nursing Home for 11 years in the dietary department. She was a longtime member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, where she was also in the Esther Circle. Ella Mae was a past member of the Riverview Auxiliary and a 60 year member of the Wednesday P.M. Card Club. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Ella Mae is survived by her children, Dennis (Mary Jo) Burmeister, Cheryl (Lester) Biggert, Peggy (Ron) Vaughn, and Mary (Tim) Mahoney, 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brother, Richard (Ellen) Thorbahn, and sisters, Marion Henry, Helen Miller, and Donna Fizer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Marvin, Lewis and Willard Thorbahn, and an infant sister. Visitation will be Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 2-8 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 4, 2018 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor. Interment will follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Ella Mae may be given to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor or Carroll Township Fire, E.M.S. & Police.
