Elizabeth Sookey, 100, of Maumee, Ohio died Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Lakes of Monclova in Maumee. She was born on November 5, 1917 in Canton, Ohio to Charles and Dieby (Hady) Harp. Elizabeth worked in retail for Consolidate in Austintown, Ohio. She was also an event host at the Pinnacle and a clerk at Kohnes Camera. She retired at 95 years old, but believed she worked at Lakes of Monclova and could outrun the nurses using her walker. At age 100 she fell and broke her hip and that was the end of her running. She volunteered for Big Brothers and Big Sisters, RSVP and was a President of the Ladies Auxilary of the Islamic Center. Elizabeth was generous, kind and had a loving spirit. She touched the hearts of everyone she met in an enormous way. She believed her longevity was due to her hard work and eating chocolate. Elizabeth will remain forever in our hearts. Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Lila (friend, Bob) Eaton, Elizabeth (David) Parrish and Kemell Sookey; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; brother, Ali (Shelia) Harp; and daughter-in-law, Marion Sookey. She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Sam Sookey. A special thank you to all her friends at Lakes of Monclova; her special nurse, Karen; her aides and caregivers, Tammy and Veronica; niece, Margie and friend, Ginny.
