Born in Toledo, Ohio on December 29, 1915 to Frank Lee and Effie Horne Lee, she lived most of her life in Toledo. She was raised in the First Congregational Church of Toledo and was an active member in church life, at one point teaching nursery school, and serving on many committees throughout her life. Betty graduated from Scott High School and the University of Toledo. While at the University she joined the Pi Beta Phi sorority, becoming a life long member. During World War II she volunteered with the Red Cross in Staunton, Virginia. She worked at several jobs in Toledo and then later went back to school and earned her teaching degree. She taught for over 20 years primarily in second and third grades, first in Glendale School in Adams Township and then finishing her career at Glendale-Feilbach School in Toledo. On Oct. 11, 1947 she married Robert Bob Roehrs and they had two daughters. Betty always enjoyed traveling and as a family they took many wonderful summer driving vacations, seeing much of the United States as well as shorter, Sunday drives. In later years she went on many trips world wide including England, Europe and China. She enjoyed crafts throughout her life and every year made the family Christmas card. She enjoyed baking and entertaining and had many close friends. After Bobs death in 1976, Betty retired from teaching and started going to Venice, Florida for the winters. She bought a mobile home there and spent more than twenty years enjoying the sunshine, beach, and activities in the area. She had many close friends in the same community, some from childhood and others new. She enjoyed them all. Preceding Betty in death were her husband Bob, both of her parents, sister Alice Lee, brother Phillip Lee, brother Marvin Lee died in infancy, half sister Margaret and sister-in-law Nancy Gillette Lee. She is survived by her daughters Beth Duff and Alice Roehrs Dennis Horan, grandson Nathan Duff, granddaughter Emma Horan, niece Mary Withington, and nephews Philip Pete Lee and John Lee.
