Elizabeth Betty Puffenberger

Elizabeth Betty Puffenberger, 89, of Port Clinton, OH passed away Monday, June 07, 2010 at her residence. She was born on April 06, 1921 in Marblehead, OH, the daughter of William E. and Clara Christensen Robel. Betty was a graduate of Lakeside High School, where to this day she still holds the high schools long jumping record from 1938. She also earned her nursing certificate. On March 17, 1949 in Angola, IN, she married Ervan O. Puffy Puffenberger and he preceded her in death on October 13, 1976. Betty worked as a telephone operator for GTE for 18 years retiring in 1986, and she was a nurse at Camp Perry. She loved all sports, especially bowling and golfing. She was a huge fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Betty will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Survivors include: Daughter: Jane Ken Storrs of Port Clinton, OH; Sons: James A. Bernadette Puffenberger of Arizona, Judge Jack R. Sarah Puffenberger of Toledo, OH, Jerry L. Puffenberger of Port Clinton, OH and Jeffrey J. Jennifer Puffenberger of Port Clinton, OH; 14 Grandchildren; 11 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great-Grandchild; Brother: Francis G. Helen Robel of Lakeside-Marblehead, OH and Sister: Ruth England of Marblehead, OH. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers: William Bill J. Robel and Richard Dick Robel, infant sister: Mary Jane Robel and very special aunt: Laurabel Velliquette. Visitation will be 2-4PM & 6-8PM, Wednesday, June 09, 2010 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH and 9-11AM, Thursday, June 10, 2010, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00AM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Betty may be given to the Danbury Athletic Boosters or the Port Clinton Athletic Boosters. Due to city construction, please use the Second Street parking lot entrance for both parking lots.
