Elizabeth J. Peterson, age 87, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009 at Lake Park, Sylvania. She was born January 24th, 1922 in Kearny, New Jersey, to Neville and Mary Barkley Jean. On June 14th, 1941, she married Walter A. Peterson in Portsmouth, VA. He preceded her in death in 1983. Walter and Elizabeth were founders and co-owners of Toledo Thermal Equipment, currently known as Peterson Thermal Equipment, which began in 1966. She worked there until her retirement in the mid 90s. Elizabeth loved to read and work cross-word puzzles and she was a supporter of the Lucas County Library System and Toledo Botanical Society Crosby Gardens. She realized a life-long dream when she took a trip to England in 1987 with her twin sister, Leila, and older sister, Mary. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth in 1948. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Karam; sons, Russell Candace and Raymond Kathleen Peterson; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and a sister, Grace Galbreath of Portsmouth, VA and many, many nieces and nephews. Friends may visit the family at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. on Thursday from 5-8 pm. Funeral services will be private.
