Elizabeth "Betsy" Papcun

Elizabeth “Betsy” Papcun 89, formerly of Port Clinton, Ohio, passed away with her family by her side at her daughter Kathy’s residence on Sunday, June 4, 2023. She was born on May 25, 1934, in Rochester, New York, the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Freeman) Stoddard. She was previously married to Ronald J. Clements from 1956 until he passed away in 1968. She then married John G. Papcun in 1975 and he preceded her in death on January 25,2023.

Betsy attended the Rochester Business Institute. She was employed at Bowling Green State University and at the Ohio Unemployment Office in Port Clinton until her retirement.

Betsy was a member of the Port Clinton Yacht Club, Port Clinton Elks, and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was involved with Ave Maria group. She was an avid golfer and bridge player. Most importantly, Betsy enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved attending and watching her grandchildren’s sporting events. Betsy was Always A BIG Cleveland Indians Fan.

Survivors include her children, Kathy Williams (Doug), Adrian, MI, Nancy Alford (Andy), Dallas, Texas, Dan Clements (Cathy), Glendale, Arizona, Susan Parker (Randy), Perrysburg, Ohio, Peggy Kalbfus (Todd), Penfield, New York, Eric Papcun, Norwalk, Iowa; grandchildren, Jennifer and Ben Decker Charles Williams, Max Alford, Katy (Alford) Council, Nick and Alex Clements, Steven, Andy and David Parker, Ryan Kalbfus and Elivia and Tillman Papcun; fourteen great-grandchildren; and sister, Judy (John) Ball, Caledonia, New York.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, granddaughter, Kaitlyn Williams, and her great-granddaughter, Evelyn Williams.

Visitation will be held at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 3-6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton, Ohio, at 9:30 am with Fr. Jonathan Wight officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Island Cemetery.
