Elizabeth A Nitz

Elizabeth Anne Nitz, 96, of Catawba Island, passed away, Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Riverview Senior Heathcare Campus, Oak Harbor. She was born April 20, 1918 in Cleveland, the daughter of Eva Pribil and Carl Schindelar. On July 4, 1941 in Cleveland she married Jacob Nitz, and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2004. Mrs. Nitz was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church where she had served on the church council, taught Sunday school, and had served as treasurer of WELCA. She retired from the former Society National Bank, now Key Bank, in 1982. Mrs. Nitz was one of the first woman officers for Society National Bank serving as Trust Officer. She was a member of the Catawba Island Garden Club, the National Association of Bank Women and a honorary member of the Cleveland Power Squadron. She volunteered for the Catawba Island Holiday Bureau. Survivors include: Son: Jack Janis Nitz of Catawba Island; Daughter: Judith David Neely of Hillsborough, NC; Grandchildren: Michael Carolyn Nitz, Jenifer Paul Dackermann, Aimee Ron DeLuca, Lynne Alex Franke & Mark Dana Neely; Great-Grandchildren: Kayley Nitz, Avery Dackermann, Alaina Dackermann, Arleigh Dackermann, Jacob Franke & Meredith Franke. Mrs. Nitz was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers: Frank, John, Adam, Carl and George Schindelar. Funeral services will be conducted 11am, Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Catawba Island, with visitation from 10-11am. Interment will be 2:45pm Wednesday, in Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmstead, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Resurrection Lutheran Church, 2370 NE Catawba Rd, Catawba Island, OH 43452.
