Elizabeth M. Christoff

Elizabeth M. Betty Christoff, age 91, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015. Betty was born August 20, 1923 in Pottsville, PA to the late Donald and Mary (Curran) Burke. Grew up in Pottsville and after graduating from Pottsville Catholic High School, she went to work as a long distance telephone operator at the Bell Telephone Company. On September 7, 1944, Betty married Steven Christoff and moved to Toledo. After arriving in Toledo she went to work at Ohio Bell. Later in life she was employed at T.J. Maxx, Miracle Mile. Betty was a member of Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral. She also was a long time member of a small group that met monthly for lunch and to play cards. She will be lovingly remembered for her humility, kind heart and giving nature. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Ronald of Toledo, Mark (Beth) of Maumee; brother, Robert Burke of Silver Spring, MD; sister-in-law, Jane Burke Werner of Pine Grove, PA; and nieces and nephews in other areas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven; son, Steven J.; and four brothers. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where a scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. Services will begin with prayers in the funeral home on Friday at 10:15 a.m. and proceed to Rosary Cathedral, 2535 Collingwood Blvd., Toledo, for 11:00 a.m. funeral Mass. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to Rosary Cathedral or St. Francis de Sales High School.
