Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Buehler, 83, of Oak Harbor, Ohio passed away Friday, February 21, 2025. She was born on December 2, 1941 in Newark, New Jersey to Harvey and Anita (Efinger) Lorenzen. She graduated from Rocky River High School in Rocky River, Ohio and attended The Ohio State University, where she met the love of her life. Ron and Betty married on September 9, 1961She was a homemaker, farm wife, and volunteer 4-H advisor while she raised her children. Her professional career included working at the Ottawa County Extension Office, for Easter Seals as an executive secretary, and as an insurance agent for local agencies. She ultimately retired from Sprouse Insurance in Genoa in 2002.
Betty was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Oak Harbor, where she was a past member of church council, served in several church circles, and helped in the kitchen and with luncheons for events. She enjoyed online services with St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Grant Park, Illinois.
Betty enjoyed reading and knitting. She made many sweaters for her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandkids. She was a member of multiple knitting groups in Oak Harbor and Elmore and enjoyed her Thursday afternoons at the yarn shop in Elmore. Her Monday morning breakfast group of ladies was very special to her as well, recently celebrating her birthday. Betty was a huge Ohio State Buckeyes fan and especially enjoyed watching their football games. She and Ron enjoyed going on Habitat for Humanity mission trips with their church after retirement. They also enjoyed traveling around the United States and overseas to Europe.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of over 63 years, Ron. She is also survived by her daughters, Kim (Bob) Wistinghausen, Sherrie (Jim) Bodi, and Trudy Buehler; grandchildren, Kyle (Nicole) Bodi, Megan Wistinghausen, Klay (Tamera) Bodi, and Jacob (Stephanie) Wistinghausen; great grandchildren, Savannah, Elaina, Addilyn, and Jack; sister, Mary Jane Keys; and exchange student and bonus daughter, Daphne Linzell. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Peter David Lorenzen.
Memorial services for Betty will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, with Pastor Kyle Timmons officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Betty may be directed to the International Health Partners for Tanzania, St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Oak Harbor, or St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Grant Park, Illinois.
