Carol Brink, 86 of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024. Born in Toledo on September 27, 1937, she graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1956. Carol was Office Manager at The Toledo Area Council of Churches for seventeen years before her retirement in 1999. Following her retirement, she was a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House Charities for over 8 years. Carol volunteered several years at the Jamie Farr Classic as a marshal on Hole No. 10, the Ronald McDonald House hole.
Carol was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church. She sang for many years in the choir, worked at many church functions, served on numerous committees, chaired the Administrative Council, and served as Financial Secretary for many years. Following the closing of Calvary Church in 2016, Carol became a member of Westgate Chapel. She also enjoyed being a reading tutor to elementary age children for many years.
During her more active years, Carol enjoyed bowling with her husband Fred. Carol then developed a strong interest in watching sports. She followed NASCAR, rooting for Jeff Gordon and against Kyle Busch. Carol cheered for the Lakers and suffered with the Browns. Most Saturdays in the fall, Carol would wear an OSU sweatshirt while cheering for the Buckeyes.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 39 years, Fred Brink; parents, Larry and Mary (Watson) Brounley; and son in law, Cliff Hardin.
She is survived by her children, Tanya Hardin of Kendallville, IN, Laura Scarbro of Dallas, OR; stepchildren, Steve (Brenda) Brink of Angola, IN, and Christine (Jay) Dambra of Wawaka, IN. Carol loved her grandchildren, Monica, Jared, and Nicolas Young, Shawn Scarbro, Adam Schwab, Brittanie and Briana Mullins; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH 43626, where the funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made at Westgate Chapel or to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
