Elizabeth L. Brainard

Elizabeth “Betty” Brainard (Gilson) of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 11, 2021. She was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Gilson and her mother Velma Gilson (Hennan). She was born April 1, 1930 in Perrysburg, Ohio. She was a graduate of Perrysburg High School. After graduation she married Joseph W. Brainard on November 19, 1949. They raised their family in both Perrysburg and Maumee, Ohio. Betty taught Dental Assisting at Penta County Vocational High School for nearly 30 years. She was devoted to her students and was well respected in the dental community. She truly enjoyed her career. She was also involved in numerous volunteer organizations in the community such as VICA –through Penta County Vocational High School and ZONTA International, just to name a few. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed entertaining, preparing holiday meals and camping/traveling with her family. Betty is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph W. Brainard of Perrysburg, OH and her family; TerryAnne (Adam) Freistuhler of Perrysburg OH, Thomas (Marianne) Brainard of Perrysburg, OH, Meagan (Brainard) Dennis of Perrysburg, OH, Joseph T. (Ashley) Brainard of Haskins, OH, Emma Dennis of Perrysburg, OH, Arnie (Donna) Gilson of Arizona, Dianna (Gordy) Oliver of Perrysburg, OH and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Services for Betty will be private. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, Perrysburg (419-874-3133).
