Elijio Hernandez

Elijio Hernandez, 89, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at his residence. Elijio was born on February 27, 1929 in Starr County, TX, the son of Alonzo and Felipà (Herrera) Hernandez. Elijio was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked at U.S. Gypsum for 38 years until his retirement. On May 02, 1948 in Alamo, TX, he married Lucia Cavazos and she preceded him in death on January 23, 2011. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory are: Children: Elijio Hernandez Jr., Olga Ebert, Eddie (Cheryl Smith) Hernandez and Artemio “Archie” (Kami) Hernandez; 9 Grandchildren; 17 Great-Grandchildren; Brother: Elais “Cookie” Hernandez; Sisters: Elda and Elva Gonzolaz. Elijio was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant son: Oscar Hernandez, brothers: Edwardo, Ernest, and Erasmo Hernandez. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8pm, Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, with family prayers at 1:30pm, Friday, August 31. A Funeral Mass will be conducted by Father John Missler at 2:00pm, Friday, August 31, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will be in Catawba Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church
