Eleanor V Sayers

Eleanor V. Sayers of Maumee, Ohio passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo just a few days before her 85th birthday. She was born March 2, 1925 in New York, NY to Gustav Walfred and Kathleen Dougherty-MacAdam Olson. Always active in her church and community, Eleanor served as secretary for the Maumee Quality of Life Committee, past president of the St. Joseph Altar and Rosary Society, past chairman of the Monclova Township Zoning Commission, past president of Heartbeat of Toledo, former board member of Moms House, and former Trustee for Foundation for Life. Eleanor enjoyed gardening, camping and traveling, but her passion was reading. She often quoted Shakespeare and other poets and was an articulate and gracious person. Her family and friends will remember her for her amazing sense of humor and wit. Eleanor is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Joseph Sayers whom she married April 27, 1946 in Bronx, NY; son, Thomas Sayers Mary Lou Huseby of Van Nuys, CA; daughter, Barbara Sayers Paul Epstein of Toledo; step-grandchildren, Anne Epstein and David Lori Epstein; brothers, Gustav Olson, Henry Dori MacAdam and Gordon Carol MacAdam. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by son, Donald Joseph Sayers. Family and friends may visit Wednesday, March 3, 2010 from 2-4 6-8 pm in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am Thursday, March 4, 2010 in the funeral home followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Maumee Cemetery.
