Eleanor L. Risher

August 3, 1936 — March 30, 2015

Eleanor Lee Urso Risher, age 78 of Sylvania Township peacefully passed away in Miramar Beach, Florida on March 30, 2015 after a long struggle with leukemia. She was born August 3, 1936 the third daughter of Samuel Bell Urso and Mary Rita Iaquinta Urso. She graduated from West Virginia University and later that summer married Jack Raymond Risher on June 28, 1958. Jack and Eleanor resided in Weirton, West Virginia and she began her teaching career which spanned over 30 years. In 1960 her son, Jack Brian was born. In 1965 they relocated to Toledo and in 1967 their daughter, Leigh-Anne was born. In 1969 the family moved to Woodhaven Michigan and Eleanor began teaching a few years later in the Woodhaven Public School District. She taught first grade until her retirement in 1999. The family moved to Sylvania Township in 1980. Eleanor enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling, playing games and her friends and family. Eleanors faith was a very important part of her life, she was an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church and Shepherds for Christ. Eleanor is survived by her husband Jack; children Jack (Laura) Risher and Leigh-Anne (David) Valdes; 5 grandchildren; 3 sisters; a brother; sister-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no visitation. A memorial Mass will be held Friday April 17, 2015 at 5:30 PM at Christ the King Catholic Church 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo 43623. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Christ the King Catholic Church, Shepherds of Christ Ministries PO Box 627 China, Indiana 47250, Corpus Christi Catholic Church 307 Beach Dr, Destin, FL 32541 or the Wounded Warrior Project: support.woundedwarriorproject.org.
