Eleanor L. Finke

Eleanor L. Finke, 89, of Oak Harbor, OH died Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at her residence. She was born on February 8, 1924 in Toledo, OH to John and Cecil Lemunyon Roth. She was a 1942 graduate of DeVilbiss High School in Toledo. On September 16, 1944 in Toledo she married Emerson L. Finke, and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2009. Eleanor worked as a homemaker and helped her husband with the family business, Finke Pharmacy in Oak Harbor from 1951-1983. She was a longtime member of the Oak Harbor United Methodist Church, where she volunteered and helped with the bereavement luncheons for over 20 years. Eleanor was also a member of the Eastern Stars, Oak Harbor American Legion Auxiliary, Literary & Social Club in Oak Harbor, Lakeside Federation of Women, past president of the Ottawa County Republican Women, and District Director of Ohio Federation of Womens Club. She enjoyed traveling around the world with her husband and spending time with her family. Eleanor is survived by her son: Gary D. Barb Finke of Oak Harbor, daughter: Karen Jo George Ruwet of Thornton, CO, 4 grandchildren: Holly James Steinke of Thornton, CO, Stuart Meghan Ruwet of Castle Rock, CO, Meridith Michael Bakker of Blairstown, NJ, and R. Jay Megan Rutherford Finke of Oak Harbor, 6 great grandchildren: Kyla, Rebecca, and Liam Ruwet, Caitlyn Emerson Steinke, Jakob Steinke, and Tripp Bakker, and niece: Lillian Robert Zilles of Fremont, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from 2-8 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. The funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Howard Preston at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the funeral home with interment to follow in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Eleanor may be directed to the Ohio Veterans Home Activities Fund or the Oak Harbor Public Library.
