Eleanor L. Duffey, 97, of Genoa, OH, died Sunday, January 10, 2016, at Mercy-St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, OH. She was born on November 17, 1918, in Ecorse, MI, to John E. and Muriel V. (Breitner) Saull. On November 23, 1935, in Lagrange, IN, she married George R. Duffey and he preceded her in death on October 18, 1994. Eleanor worked as a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, embroidery, crocheting, and knitting. She made all her daughters wedding dresses and the bridesmaids dresses. Eleanor was also an avid reader, very artistic, enjoyed music, gardening, and animals, especially dogs. She had a big heart and took in a lot of strays over the years, both human and animal. She made awesome Christmas cookies by the hundreds. Her family was the most important thing to her, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all. Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Barbara J. (Richard) Mackling, Kathleen A. Duffey and Virginia S. (Earl G., Jr.) OHara, daughter-in-law, Barbara A. Duffey, son, T. Michael Duffey, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, brother-in-law, Raymond Reis, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Robert B. Duffey, son-in-law, Donald Hardin, daughter-in-law, Marsha Duffey, infant granddaughter, Laura Duffey and sisters, Virginia, Marjorie, and June. Funeral services for Eleanor will be private. Interment will be in Lake Township Cemetery, Millbury, OH. Memorial contributions for Eleanor may be given to the Toledo Zoo, the Ottawa County Humane Society, or any animal rescue organization. Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Genoa, is assisting the family with arrangements.
