Eleanor Jean (Starry) Amer, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2014 at Aspen Grove. She was born on December 3, 1922 in Latrobe, PA to the late Sewell and Maude Starry. She married David Frank Amer on August 5, 1943. She started her office experience with Erie Ordnance during WWII. Jean then worked for 30 years at the Ohio Unemployment Bureau, retiring as a supervisor in 1986. Jean and her late husband, Dave, enjoyed big band music with Stan Kenton being their favorite. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and playing cards. Jean is preceded in death by her husband and three sisters, Anna Ruth Keith, Betty Gring, and Helen Gring. She is survived by her son, David (Rudi) and granddaughter, Jessica (Chad) Ellison and grandson, Brian (Chandra) Amer. She has one great granddaughter, Ashley Amer (age 3). Jean is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her brother-in-law, Ken Gring. Visitation will be at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, (west of Corey Rd.) from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2014 where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association. Jeans family wishes to thank the staff of Aspen Grove and ProMedica Hospice for their loving care.
